If you get tired of the conservative landscape of the city center, Europaallee is your next stop. Located just next to the train station, this modern neighborhood will offer you a glance at the future of urban living. The allee, shadowed by the modern glossy giants, is reserved exclusively for pedestrians and offers plenty of opportunities for shopping and relaxing.
Shopping opportunities on the Europallee range from expert-level equipment for outdoor adventures to local craftsmanship and second-hand boutiques. My favourites are TRANSA and Oeschner Sports Pro for outdoor equipment, Kevin in the Woods for urban functional clothing, and DIE MACHEREI for local brands. ReWorks offers an exciting selection of second-hand clothes converted into relevant wear.
There are plenty of exciting terraces and shops for foodies too! Vom Fass (germ. on tap) is a fun shop with a great selection of olive oils, balsamic vinegar, and whiskeys literally on tap. Everything they sell is available for tasting and can be distributed in bottles of your choice. Works especially well for souvenirs! The food court and the market in the BRIDGE are exceptional, don’t miss out.
Fun fact: Europaallee is the home of the newest campus of Google Switzerland. You can definitely notice presence if you pay attention, however, I am not aware of any public visiting hours. To experience a striking contrast, follow the allee from the train station all the way to the end. You will end up in the most controversial and anarchic areas of Zurich.
