The flow of Syrian-Armenians to Armenia has left a good mark on the city and the country overall. Syrian-Armenians have brought a new culture to Yerevan, not only a new culture of doing business, but also new tastes. There are now various spots in Yerevan where you can taste Syrian (or Syrian-Armenian) cuisine. But here, in this underground market, you will first and foremost find the necessary ingredients which will make your food truly Syrian.
There are several shops here, one of which includes a wide variety of spices. There is also a barber's shop. For those who are in a hurry, or are just keen to have a small snack, there is a very tasty sandwich spot at the end of the corridor (or at the beginning, depends on which entrance you choose). Though a lot of the food is with meat, people who don't eat meat will find something tasty here too (my favorites are the sandwiches with cheese or hummus). Depending on the time of day, there may be a queue here (also because it is next to the subway), but it is worth the wait.
