Kramerbooks and Afterwords, an old school cozy bookstore with a café, bar and restaurant is right in the heart of Dupont circle. It has been around forever and is a great destination to meet locals and stock up on reading material.
I love charming bookstores with cafes, and this is one of my favorites. You walk in, and the first thing you see is a bookstore – filled with books of all genres. Move on back and there is a café/bar and restaurant. This is where I go when I want to get away from the busy city during the day, or to grab a glass of wine or beer and look through books. They have a full restaurant, but my favorite here is the dessert selection! It constantly changes, but if they have any cobbler or pie – definitely get it, they are amazing.
On Fridays and Saturdays, they are open 24 hours. If you want to satisfy that intellectual craving at 03:00 (or that apple pie craving!), this is the place to go to.
