My love for Tirana has never been greater; this city never fails to amaze me. The brilliant and colorful mural art seen on nearly every street is one of the newest trends that has taken the city by storm. The movement has been adopted by both local and international artists who have come to give their distinctive touch to the city's architecture.
The artwork's concept is to provide color to the dreary, gray structures left over from the Communist era. These paintings witness Tirana's transition into a vibrant and colorful city brimming with positive energy and innovation.
What astonishes me more is that the artwork isn't limited to the larger structures. Even the power boxes on the street have distinctive patterns, each conveying its own tale; check out this article that tells you more about them.
The best way to appreciate the artwork is to walk around the city's streets. As you go, you'll notice some magnificent paintings depicting everything from nature to Albanian history and culture. One of my favorite and most spectacular murals depicts the library where Kadare and Dritero, the most famous Albanian writers, are portrayed at the top.
Whether you're a fan of art or love exploring new places, you should keep an eye open for these murals.
