When I entered Cafe Otef - Rei'm in Florentin for the first time, I immediately felt its special atmosphere. It is not only a neighbourhood coffee shop, but it represents Kibbutz Re'im. The lovely and welcoming staff are originally from the kibbutz, the bakery goods come from Rei'm bakery and the tasty deli products and the amazing chocolate pralines are crafted by chocolatier Dvir Karp, continuing his legacy.
I highly recommend not only having a coffee there but also grabbing one of the pastries from the bakery or choosing some of the delicious pralines—my favourites are the white waffle and the "flower" (Kalaniah), which is red from the strawberry cream filling. The whole store is themed around the "Kalaniot"—Red Poppies in Hebrew—a flower that is very common in spring in the region of the south and the kibbutz.
