Zghapruli Gemo - a taste from a fairy tale - is a precise translation of the name of a bakery that is located in the center of the Saburtalo district in Tbilisi. Is all that food made by Snow White herself? You be the judge of that, but before you do, I’ll try to give you a ‘slice’ of my mind.
Look, the Saburtalo district has a plethora of bakeries and by bakeries, I mean traditional Georgian fast food and by fast food, I don’t mean anything like McDonland’s or Dunkin’. The traditional Georgian fast food bakeries literally offer Georgian traditional food - Khachapuri (dough with cheese), Lobiani (dough with beans) and etc. along with some pastries. And by the price and the fast food nature of it, most of those bakeries usually offer, I'd say - a not-so-fairy-tale-like taste.
But! Zghapruli Gemo is an exception and a true hidden gem. Their Lobiani is so appetizing that my sister is even willing to walk 2 whole kilometers from home to get it. The flowers and green plants on the display in unison with the Statue of Liberty wallpaper create a sensation of freshness as soon as you walk in.
You can be brave and go for basically anything your stomach is rumbling for at the moment and step into the shoes of Happy, Doc, Grumpy, Dopey, Bashful, Sleepy, and Sneezy.
