I love Uzbek food, and I think that only Uzbeks go to the restaurant to try Uzbek national food :). Khiva restaurant is located inside Hyatt Regency Tashkent Hotel on the first floor. I personally prefer to try Uzbek food in the Old City, but if you want Uzbek food with European service, in this case you have to come to Khiva restaurant.
I like this hotel. Therefore, I often visit this restaurant as well. The kitchen is adapted to foreign tourists. They have a large varied Uzbek menu but cooked with a small amount of oil. However, everything is still very tasty. The prices, of course, are higher compared to those in the Old City. But you need to understand that this is a restaurant in a five-star hotel, so the service is premium.
So, if you want to find a combination of good Uzbek cuisine and a decent level of service, welcome to Khiva restaurant. Local spots (e.g. plov centers) make really very tasty food, but frankly, the service suffers a bit, which might make you nervous :). Likewise, at a good restaurant you won’t be able to try a quality plov or samsa. In Khiva, they have an excellent interior and service, as well as high-quality cuisine! Their somsa is good, the plov is not bad either, awesome ayran, high-quality shorpa! I recommend!
