Uzbek food is one of the gems of Central Asian cuisine. We have a mixture of the culinary traditions of the Persians, Turks and other nations. This advantageous position at the crossroads of trade routes of the Great Silk Road made the recipes of Uzbek cuisine very special and very diverse both in terms of products and the methods of food preparation. You can feel that when you actually taste our cuisine for yourself.
As a person who loves Uzbek food, I would like to recommend a special place at Chigatoy Darvoza in the Olmazor district of Tashkent, where you can taste our Uzbek cuisine. That place is "Chigatoy Shashlik." You can try here different kinds of shashlik (kebabs), shourpa (soups), palov (pilaf), all kind of meat specialties and other traditional Uzbek dishes.
One additional point I want to stress: it is not a fancy restaurant but an ordinary Uzbek cafe!
