Washuko Tomo or "Friend of Washoku" is a high-end Japanese restaurant in Södermalm. This restaurant is very popular, and there is often a waiting list for a couple of months to get a table. But it is all worth the wait.
You are friendly greeted by the staff working that night and seated at your table. There is just room for about 14 people in one sitting. The food is Japanese and you will experience a dinner where you'll try different small bites from Japan. The chef is preparing everything just in front of you and explains what we are going to eat and how it has been prepared.
I can highly recommend to try the sake paring with the food. It is a fun way to learn more about the Japanese kitchen. My highlights are the sake-marinated sea bass, so full of flavors. Another thing I always look forward to is the nigiri servings. Super fresh and packed with flavor.
It is just so much fun watching everything being prepared and explained and that one really can taste it too. This little place has won a few prizes for the genuine tastings of Japan, and there is not really a menu, you eat the 12 servings that you get. Most dishes are fish or seafood and if that is not your cup of tea, you should rethinking of going. This will be a fun experience if you are LUCKY to get a reservation to Washuko Tomo.
