About me

About me
I was born here in Dublin where I now live and work after some time spent in both London and the Netherlands. I am a part-time picture editor for a national newspaper and freelance travel writer.

Besides travel I love my food and attending gigs.

Why Dublin?
With some of the best music, food, and of course bars, there is a welcoming buzz to my city to rival any, which is why I love Dublin. The Irish are known throughout the world for being welcoming and I like to think that you will find that wherever you go.

A short drive from both the mountains and the sea I think Dublin offers something special which you won't find in other cities.

The Market Bar

Tapas in unusual surroundings

"The Market Bar" in what is now known as Dublin's Cultural Quarter. There, you can find a tapas-focused bar - I recommend the cheap lunch menu...

Doughboys

Sandwiches with bite

"Doughboys" in Dublin is no boring high street sandwich shop. The real treats here are for the carnivores amongst us: seek out their porchetta...

Irish Design Shop

Trove of Irish treasures

"Irish Design Shop" in Dublin is the perfect shop to get that unique memento or gift to bring back home. No longer do I have to send friends cliché gifts!

An education in coffee

"Dublin Barista School" is the perfect example of my theory that, when it comes to coffee, you actually get more if you're paying less...

The Bridge 1859

Not your average sports bar

"The Bridge 1859", owned by four of Ireland's best known rugby players, is probably one of the best places to enjoy a drink if you're in Dublin for a game.

Neon

Dublin's street food

"Neon" in Dublin is as authentic a Thai restaurant as it can get outside of Thailand. A nice little extra is the ice cream cone they bring to your table!

John Fallons

St. Patrick's local

"John Fallons" is one of Dublin's finest little pubs, only feet away from Saint Patrick's cathedral. I like how easy it is to strike up a conversation here
