Whenever someone comes to Valencia for the first time, and I want to impress them, this is one of my favourite places to take them. This rectangular-shaped palace is located in the historic center of the city, at 2 Poeta Querol Street. Rococo style, its current appearance dates back to two renovations in the 18th century and the 20th century. It stands out for its main façade, with an imposing baroque-style door and beautifully decorated French-style balconies.
On the ground floor, you find a central patio and an exhibition of carriages of the time. You access the first floor via elegant stairs that already hint at the palace's importance. On this floor, the different rooms where guests were received are preserved, and the Chinese room decorated with oriental motifs stands out. You also find the rooms of the marquises, the dining room, and the chapel, but the room that stands out the most among all is the ballroom which reminds you of a hall worthy of Versailles. Beautifully decorated with mirrors, voluptuous lamps, delicately painted ceilings and walls, it really catches your eye. Feel like a royal! The third and last floor houses the National Ceramic Museum, where a tour of the evolution of national ceramics over the centuries is taken. Also, in one of the rooms, an old typical Valencian cuisine is recreated.
The palace-museum is open every day except Mondays. Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings the admission is free.
