Being a vegetarian in Bulgaria is an impossible mission. Don't get me wrong - I love meat, but I tried to do an improvised fast last Christmas and it was incredibly hard. Even salads in Bulgaria have ham or some sausage in them.
Fortunately, there's a place for those who like meatless dishes, be it all the time or just for a change. Dream House is not the only veggie restaurant in Sofia but is probably the oldest. Many places just did not survive throughout the years.
Best time to visit? Sunday afternoon between 12:00 and 16:00. That's when they have an all-you-can-eat-or-try buffet for just 10 lv (€ 5). Of course, it does not include all the dishes so if you like their cuisine, you should come again.
They have different lunch menus with 3-4 dishes for each workday. Every Saturday they prepare dishes exclusively with organic products. Sometimes they have special offers so make sure you ask if they have something interesting that's not on the menu. The food is very cheap and incredibly delicious. I have literally tried everything on the menu. The only gamble are the desserts.
Don't expect anything fancy, though - the place is very simple. It's one of the spots in Sofia that's impossible to just come across although there's a sign at the street. You enter into something like a bazaar and then a door on the left will take you to the first floor of the building where the restaurant is located.
