Spotted by Locals likes very local places. So Firma Elma is one of the most local places I can share with you. It is so hidden that even most of the local inhabitants of Riga don't know it. Only people who live and work nearby know it (and only if they have been there for a longer time, you need somebody to tell you about it).
Why? This place does not advertise. There's not even a sign outside on the building indicating there's a cafe inside. Only if you work in this office building or visit somebody there will you notice it.
So why it is so special? Actually - it is nothing special. Just one more cheap lunch place for workers. Probably the cheapest place to eat. You can have soup + main meal + drink just for €3.20. The food is very simple, but not bad. Some days it is just ok, but some days really tasty. For a budget meal it's good - a proper meal, not fast food.
Don't rely on their opening hours. Sometimes they start later and finish faster. But they are definitely open at lunch time.
How to find it? Go to the beginning of Ģertrūdes street. There you'll see a red brick office building from Soviet times. Go up the stairs, on the first floor on the left side you'll find doors with a sign "KAFEJNĪCA".
