Hidden a roundabout away from the main stadium, Hapiteria is a relatively new restaurant catering to the taste of Prishtina's people.
The special thing about it is that it doesn't specialise in a specific cuisine; instead, it gives you a hint of the most popular dishes through mezzes. Whenever I am undecided and want something filling and delicious, Hapiteria is the spot – although, to be fair, my friends and I have recently become serial visitors for almost every night out.
The hummus salad is a collective favourite, and together with the most delicious bread on earth, it is a staple on our table. We will be the ones asking the extremely friendly and understanding waiters for, and I quote, "...as much bread as you can bring..." and then, sighing from joy as the steam from the hot bread heats up our hands. More often than not, we add pins and the Gochujang (marinated chicken breast) to the mix as well, but occasionally, we branch out to the chicken shish, tomato casserole, or the Cavalli (potato and onion pie).
Of course, a nice meal needs a drink to accompany it, and there is a range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic ones to try out. My personal favourite is the Amaretto sour, which, ironically, was a recommendation of the barman when a friend of mine asked for something sweet. Now, is it sweet? That is debatable, but just as Hapiteria's food, it is absolutely tasty for sure.
