Snuggled into a somewhat hard-to-find gritty alley (Ranstead St.) west of City Hall, with just RR painted on a dimly red-lit door, one enters a nostalgic for the days of yore bar with red vinyl booth seating for cosy chats, a long curved wooden bar, and nude retro, “pinup girl” mid-20th century paintings; the kind of place Don Draper of “Madmen” might have brought a secretary after a long day at the office.
“Dark and moody”, as the bar’s website describes it, with top-notch bartenders serving cocktails like the Bonesaw is Ready (scotch, gin, lemon juice, pear, fig and cardamom) or the Old Fashioned #2 (mezcal, rye, pecan, mole and cinnamon), it’s a great place to escape to for an hour or two with a good mate or date. I follow them on instagram for their featured guest bartender nights. Keep in mind they do not take reservations.
