I’m not a big yoga person but I’ve really fallen for the outdoor yoga sessions in Frognerparken. There is something about being outside and feeling the grass under your toes that appeals to me. The classes, run by an Oslo yoga school, are held twice a week during the summer months and are absolutely at a level for everyone.
We meet up at the angry baby statue "sinnataggen" on the bridge and head off together to a nice flat part of the park where we organize our mats and towels around the instructor. Depending on the weather there can be up to a hundred people there so it’s a very casual affair, no shame in being stiff or not in the latest designer yoga pants!
The classes are run in Norwegian but again, it’s all very relaxed so you can just follow the person in front of you. The cost is 50kr and is payable in cash or via Vipps, the mobile pay app.
The days and times vary from year to year so it’s important to check their Facebook page which they update regularly with an event for each day. They may also cancel if its rainy, which they update on Facebook as well.
Namaste!
