If you look for a typical, traditional Italian restaurant, which fulfills all stereotypes, like offering Pizza and Spaghetti Bolognese, then you're wrong. Da Paolo is an exception, but it's still a traditional Italian restaurant. And yes you'll find some typical Italian items here, for example cookbooks, Sardinian wine, pictures of Italy and souvenirs and the atmosphere is warm and pleasant. So is the welcoming.
The owner spreads this funny and and charming South European spirit. After being seated, you get a hand written menu, with about ten to 15 different dishes with starters, fish or meat dishes and desserts. The menu changes every two weeks, so it's always a surprise going there for dinner, because you don't know what to expect. They are specialised in Sardinian food, because the owner is from Sardinia.
Sometimes it's difficult to choose, everything sounds so good. And, what a surprise, it's delicious. As a starter I had some homemade ravioli and as a main meal quail on red cabbage. Doesn't sound typical Italian and it isn't, it's even better. The Sardinian wine is very good as well.
But it's not cheap. All ingredients are fresh and if they run out of anything, they recommend another tasty option for you.
Please make a reservation before you go there. Have a funny and yummy evening (just for the guys: it's the best place for a romantic dinner!).
