In Malmö you're never far from recreational areas. Malmö prides itself over being "parkernas stad" (the city of parks), and has no less than 20 different parks, each with its own style and theme, listed on the official website.
Every day throughout the year, Malmö's parks are visited by thousands of locals spending time with friends and family; strolling, jogging, working out, picnicking, barbecuing, even celebrating birthdays.
The parks are basically our huge common living rooms combined with health and entertainment centers.
My personal favourite is Pildammsparken, that with its 45 hectares has been part of the cityscape since the early 1900s (one of the dams dates back to the 1500s). With easy access from "Triangeln", "Gustav Adolfs torg", "Möllevångstorget" and "Södervärn" - right at the heart of the city, as well as in the heart of its residents - Malmö's largest park, Pildammsparken, draws people of all ages and features playgrounds, outdoor gyms, amphitheatre, meditational areas, gardens, café, restaurant and more. I come here almost every day and I try to take all visiting friends and family here at least once!
Malmö's parks teem with life and no matter whether you're working out, soaking up sun, feeding birds, admiring the beautiful gardens and flower beds or just strolling around, they're an opportunity to experience nature in the heart of Malmö. They're all worth a visit, so why don't you take some time, go exploring and then tell me which one was your personal favourite?!
