Disneylaaaannnndddd! What? Kristina, you know you are supposed to be writing about the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round. Yes, yes, but it IS connected to Disneyland.
Walt Disney was inspired to create Disneyland by this very Merry-Go-Round!
Mr. Disney lived in Los Feliz and used to bring his daughters to this very spot. One day he was sitting on a bench watching his children have fun going round and round the merry-go-round and he thought, "Wouldn't it be nice to have a large area of fun that the entire family could enjoy?" Hence, DISNEYLAND!
Look for the bench dedicated to Walt and his daughters, Diane and Sharon, and spend just $2 for a ride on the only full-sized vintage Spillman Carousel in operation today! I came here as a kid and still enjoy it!
Open weekends all year and every day during the summer.
