Dodger Stadium is where Los Angelinos get their baseball fix but they also host numerous concerts and events.
Located in Chavez Ravine, the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers is one of the oldest ballparks in American Major League Baseball. Built in 1962, this new stadium coaxed the Brooklyn Dodgers from their New York home to California. Unknown to many locals, Dodger Stadium was home to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim from 1962-1965.
A great city attraction, 56.000 fans can fit into its seat although there are concerts that allow on the field seating. I always try to eat some "Dodger Dogs" and cheese nachos when I am there. A couple of seasons ago, they had an "all-you-can-eat" Pavilion in left field, what a deal!
Along with baseball during the summer seasons, Dodger Stadium hosts large sold out concerts to Madonna, Rolling Stones, the Cure, Bruce Springsteen, and many others.
For locals, Dodger Stadium is where people meet up for our sports fix. Whether or not we win or lose, fans practice the "Wave" and play volleyball with 99Cent store beach balls. I love the neat videos, bloopers, and jokes on the big screen on the scoreboard. I'll buy the $ 8 beer when my team is losing.
See you at the ball game! Check the online schedule for free giveaways.
During the down-season go for hikes around this large park.
Elysian Historical Park next to the stadium. Click here for more information: Elysian Park Hiking Trails email: Echo Park Historical Society Tours.
