When in Kraków, don’t limit yourself to the Old Town, or even Old Town and Kazimierz. Go a bit off the beaten path and head a bit west from the historical centre. You’ll reach the National Museum, but that’s not where I wanted to take you today. In front of it, you’ll find there is Umeblowana Cafe, located in a modernist building that once was the Cracovia Hotel. Step inside and you’ll be captivated!
The interior boasts two levels filled with mid-century modern gems: chairs, tables, and other marvellous pieces of furniture. If you’re a design lover, you can’t miss Umeblowana (which means furnished) while you’re in Kraków. Matching shades of blue with gold accents and plenty of plants, the place creates a special feel from the first moments you’re there. It’s spacious, cosy, and stylish at the same time. You’re sure to leave inspired.
You can treat yourself to some old school cakes (including W-Z, a Polish classic), sandwiches, croissants, lemonades, and much more. The menu is extensive and I’m sure you will find something to suit your fancy. Anyway, the interior alone makes it worth a visit! Oh, and don’t forget to pet the in-house dog! Umeblowana wouldn’t be the same without her.
