There are a few places in Krakow that can take you back in time. One of those is Mleczarnia - an exceptional cafe located in the heart of Kazimierz district. It's also my personal favorite spots in the whole city - here's why.
Mleczarnia is definitely a place that shows my city's vibe. It's decorated in a vintage style that reminds me of something old but in a positive way. You can feel that this cafe has a soul and everything about it is genuine.
In the summer season, you can sit in the garden across the street and when colder days approach, the cozy, quite dark interior is waiting for you to come. The main light source are candles and the walls are full of old family portraits and paintings.
The menu isn't long. You can have a small snack to accompany your glass of wine. My pick whenever I'm there is the cheesecake - tender, mild and topped with a caramel glaze! I can honestly call it the best one in the city - and I know what I'm talking about, as cheesecakes are my soft spot. The music played in the cafe adds a pre-war vibe and matches the overall aura. The knitted table coats are an element that reminds me of my grandmother's house and old Krakow.
While sipping your coffee in the twilight, you can feel as if time has stopped. In Mleczarnia you can become a local for a moment and lose yourself in a moment.
