Active for more than 15 years now already, Korjaamo Culture Factory is a privately owned cultural center located a few kilometers from the city center in the quiet, upper middle-class residential area of Töölö. While generally there’s not too much to do in this district except maybe dine in some nice restaurants, Korjaamo is definitely the most important highlight and always worth visiting!
Korjaamo offers nearly all kinds of cultural events from music concerts and clubs to stand-up comedy and theater on several different venues as well as art exhibitions and daily film screenings. Many times you can also find other activities or interests here, such as design events, a flea market or workshops.
I normally go to Korjaamo to watch a live music show, a good film or just to hang out for a while as it’s such a cool place to visit even only for a lunch in one of their restaurants. Regarding food, I warmly recommend especially the Korjaamo Bar & Kitchen bistro, which is outside lunchtime open also in the evening from Wednesday till Saturday.
Korjaamo is basically a complex of different spaces and venues connected together. The inner yard is very pleasant on warm sunny days for a drink, but outside the summer season, you will enjoy their cozy interiors. The bigger music concerts are organized in the old tram factory halls, which are in a separate building. During daytime, the visually impressive venue operates as the nostalgic Helsinki Tram Museum.
