Cafe Mutteri has been around for nearly 90 years which makes it one of the oldest cafes in Helsinki. During this time it has found its way into the hearts of the Helsinki locals and especially the ones living in the Lauttasaari neighborhood.
Lauttasaari is only a bridge away from Helsinki's city center. If you are into walking, Lauttasaari is a very nice day walk destination. Lauttasaari is an island with a beautiful coast line, beaches and a small forest where you can even pick some blueberries yourself late in summer or in early fall.
Just on the other side of the bridge, Cafe Mutteri is a perfect pit stop during the walk, for the locals as well. Many people tend to stop by for a coffee or tea and have some delicious buns or cakes to go with it. The atmosphere is heartwarming and one of my favorite things is just to stare outside and watch the traffic pass by.
