Café Deike is one of my favorite cafés in my neighborhood. It is the perfect place for a relaxed coffee – and cake – date with your friends, for a refreshing homemade lemonade or also a tasty German breakfast.

Café Deike is located in a more quiet side street, mainly surrounded by apartment buildings. And this also correlates with the feeling you get once you enter the café – you immediately feel like in a cozy living room. There is an old wooden wall clock that rings every half an hour, a huge cabinet with antique coffee mills and an old portable radio and there is a guitar and a piano. In every table drawer, you will find a tiny music box and there are also a lot of toys for kids in the café (perfect for this neighborhood, as Eimsbüttel is supposed to be the quarter of Hamburg with the most kids).

Every Sunday evening, you can watch the famous tv show 'Tatort' (=crime scene), a criminal series every German knows and which many people love to watch with a group as a weekly tradition. Also, if you are francophone, Café Deike offers a regulars' French speaking table twice a month where you can meet up to practice your French speaking skills and often times, there are small concerts in the café.
