In a city full of retro, vintages and thrift stores, 'Starry Starry Night' in the West End of Glasgow is the original. Opened in 1986 it's one of those back street cluttered little treasure troves of a shop. It has been here in Glasgow before retro was retro and where vintage clothes started.
Here you will find clothing from the Victorian and Edwardian eras, as well as classic 1960/70s garments, hats, shoes and accessories. The shop specialises in second hand kilts, traditional wedding garbs and military style clothing. If you want a top hat, an antique wedding veil, a fur coat or exquisite costume jewellery then this is the place to rummage and search through the packed rails of dresses, shirts jackets and blousons from yesteryear to olden days. Want to find a little '60s number, a dinner jacket, platform boots or a Pith helmet! Well look no further than this wee goldmine of garments, trinkets, chapeaus and shoes.
From 1920s Naval jackets to 50s ball gowns, there are clothes, costumes from every decade you can think of and a cornucopia of jewels, accessories, hat pins, silk gloves, scarves and fascinators. The shop also sells textiles and off cuts to make your own classic little numbers with! Now costume party season is here there are plenty of ideas to experiment with in this little den of intrigue.
