If you are a book hunter and look for collector's editions or more recent quality second-hand books, the Caledonia* Bookshop is definitely worth a visit. To me, the regular decrease of independent stores makes all the more a great destination by itself, and a treat.
Seated in Great Western road in Glasgow, this family-run bookshop is a little heaven where I love to browse around, particularly through Scottish literature, History and politics but also arts, nature maps and recipes! All subjects are covered, also including essays, biographies, philosophy, and comics from around the world, with rare or vintage editions, out-of-print copies, and even a few items in foreign language editions such as French. There is something for everybody at a reasonable price.
Books are stacked everywhere on two floors but well organized and the place is neat and tidy. If you have been looking for a book for ages, the knowledgeable staff will be happy to help. They might have it, otherwise they will recommend another store with no problem!
*Caledonia is the former Latin name given by the Romans to the unconquered Northern province of their Empire, knows Scotland (beyond the Hadrian wall)
