Having been an art student, life drawing was always a sombre affair, usually in a dimly lit room without heating and silence, whilst the tutor breathed over your shoulder. All The Young Nudes is a very different matter. Held in a nice warm pub, music playing, chat and laughs and nobody casting their beady eyes at your work.
All the Young Nudes began in 2010 in Glasgow and started life in The Flying Duck pub where it occasionally returns for specific events. It was set up as an alternative to life drawing 'classes' in more relaxed environments and is open to everybody of every ability. Its popularity quickly spread, leading to bigger premises and new venues in different cities throughout Scotland and also in London.
In Glasgow All the Young Nudes (ATYN) now has its weekly home in Sloans Bar on a Monday night in Glasgow's city centre. Also there are other one off events, party nights and workshops. Tickets can be bought on the website and you can also turn up to the regular weekly nights and still get a ticket (but best to check first before you go!).
Each event at ATYN involves different music-themed nights including live bands and solo performances as well all the playlists from these events being available on Spotify where you can follow them.
There is now a new, extra venue on a Tuesday night which is Maggie Mays pub, (60 Trongate, Glasgow G1 5EP). And talk of a new venue to come.
