I, just like everybody here in Frankfurt, am so nostalgic about the Old Henningerturm been torn down and rebuilt as an apartment house now. The Good Old Days of Henninger Beer in Sachsenhausen seemed to had gone forever.
The well-known beer from Frankfurt is still brewed locally here in Sachsenhausen and Henninger am Turm - Das Frankfurter Brauhaus really gives the beer a new home now.
The team has done a great job at decorating and creating an atmosphere of a Henninger Bierstube with somehow old-fashioned, wooden panels and loads of beer nostalgia from the seventies around with pictures, photos and all kind of beer jars, plates, t-shirts and kitsch on the walls and in the show boxes.
Yes, the menu offers all major Henninger beers (Prost!) in addition to some other fine selected beer specialities.
I go to Henninger am Turm regularly. They offer many seasonal specials like asparagus in Spring and Oktoberfest-Specials in September. The Frankfurter Schnitzel comes with a very good "Grüne Sosse" (Green Sauce).
Also go when there are live Sports-Events with Eintracht Frankfurt on big TV Screens in a separated area.
Yes, it is a tourist place, with sometimes a bus of Asian tourists, which they seat on a big table in the middle. But I consider it fun, enjoy the excitement they show when eating (and even more important: taking photos of) their Original Schweinshaxen! The place is huge with space for all: locals, visitors, families, tourist groups... all united in eating what they like!
