The Giardino delle Rose is a public art garden between the San Niccolo district and piazzale Michelangelo.
Inside the garden you can find a little lake with magnolias, different kinds of roses (of course!) and a Japanese garden, but the most amazing thing is the presence of Jean-Michel Folon's sculptures.
Folon is an artist who had a special connection with Florence. He fell in love with the city in the '50 and decided to donate some of his bronze sculptures to it. His little men are named by Florentines "Omini di Folon" and you can find them in many part of Florence.
The garden is an inspiring place, I can spend a few minutes resting on a bench or an entire afternoon lying on the grass next to the bronze sleeping cat, surrounded by Folon's Omini and animals. My favorite is the Omino with flowers on its head!
As you can imagine it's also a romantic place from which you can see Florence and her red sunset.
