Even though La Glace, the oldest pastry shop in Denmark, is considered a quite 'touristy' place, whenever I personally go, I only see locals there, either remote workers like me or families on a break. We locals usually go in the very morning, ideally at the opening, to get ahead of the – potential but almost certain – queue later in the day and enjoy a tea and some bakery treat or cake before work. Even though it is quite big, it gets full fast, and they don't accept reservations.
They suggest they are not only the oldest but also the best pastry shop in Denmark, but that is up to you to decide while trying something out of their huge menu, focusing on cakes! The coffee is not great, to be honest, but it is mainly a tea and cake place, so maybe it makes some sense. You also need to keep in mind that it is not as affordable, but the atmosphere, luxury and amazing tastes are definitely worth it! Last but not least, there is a shop in the mezzanine, to take some of their special products home!
