In April 2017, a tragedy happened in Chisinau. Being spring and all trees already having big green leaves, much unexpectedly - snow fell, a lot of it. It blocked the city for 2-3 days and white silence was set. Besides electricity cables being down all over the city, tree branches and full big trees fell as well, from the heaviness of the snow that covered them overnight.
Same thing happened to the huge tree in the photo. It was located in the city center, in front of the National Library (a beautiful building, make sure to notice it).
The beautiful thing is that the huge broken tree is still in front of the library, but in upgraded shape. My favorite local team of local designer Mihai and sculptor Pavel got inspired again and made a huge efforts to bring the tree to life.
If you go on 31st August 1989 str, nr 78A, in front of the National Library, there is a little square. Look around and observe the urban furniture placed on its perimeter. While observing, read about the huge tree's journey from tragedy to new life on www.mikelesta.com.
