I have a thing for movies and another thing for art cinemas, so everywhere I go I make sure to find them. Művész means artist and it occupies a special place in my heart. It's decorated with mirror mosaics, creating an effect that brings you directly in the atmosphere of certain movies. It's a mix between Gaudí, an amusement park, a thematic garden and a cartoon, so sometimes I come here just for a drink and a chat with a friend on a Sunday afternoon.
The movie choice is rich, as there are five screens, and usually the movies are in the original language, making it way more expat-friendly then the multiplexes, where most of the films are dubbed.
For me there's something more flavoured in watching an indie movie sitting in a smaller room rather than being in a big cinema nested in a shopping mall. Art cinemas are one of the reason I find Budapest an ideal place to live and Művész holds many of my dearest memories.
