This coffee place opened in 2015 and has already built quite a reputation in the neighbourhood. Devinska has a disproportional amount of village pubs, so Penny Coffea was like a gift from heaven for many people. Finally a place with high quality coffee and delicious cakes!
It's located at the beginning of the street which leads to the cycle bridge (check the Cyklomost slobody article) and which becomes a sort of promenade during weekends. The building has a long history and used to be a toll house serving the old bridge on the Morava river. Hence the reason why the street is called "At the toll".
They really have great menu ideas and you can be sure to find something new every time you visit them. It's a truly great stop for refreshing drinks after a long walk or cycle trip in the area. I recommend their excellent raw cakes and specialty coffee from Indonesia. The menu changes regularly in order to bring something innovative each season. Right now you can try the traditional Slovak doughnuts or the less traditional but equally delicious waffles.
In summer they organize grill parties and concerts in the courtyard of the building. In the colder months, the cosy interior invites to linger and chat with friends.
I love their terrace where their Irish hound Flavio casually stretches under visitors' feet. He's an incredibly strong marketing tool :). The lovely atmosphere of the place is matched by the impeccable service, which makes you happy to come back.
