The best thing that could possibly happen in Bratislava is Buchtáreň opening. This store is the first Slovakian street food spot offering traditional steamed dumplings. It is located in the city center right next to the club Alizee.
'Parene buchty' in Slovak mean steamed dumplings with various fillings (jam, plum, curd, poppy) topped with cocoa powder, poppy seeds, sugar, butter, breadcrumbs or nuts; or even filled with meat and topped with butter, cheese or sour-cream with onions. All of these we tasted at Buchtáreň in Bratislava City Center. Also, the store is now expanding and opened another Buchtáreň in Aupark shopping center.
I'm very excited about the place as our traditional 'parene buchty' are a real Slovak pride :). My favourites are definitely the sweet buns with cocoa powder, melted butter and strawberry jam topped with vanilla cream, or the ones topped with poppy seeds and filled with apricot jam. you have to try all of them when visiting Bratislava!
