You could never get bored in Spandau — I’ve found another perfect spot for a romantic date with a stunning sunset, a picnic, or just a peaceful walk. Imagine people strolling by, sailing boats docked at the pier, white sails on the horizon, and seagulls soaring in the sky. And no, it’s not a seaside resort. You might be surprised to learn that Berlin has its own bodies of water where you can do more than just paddle a boat — you can actually feel the wind in your hair and the thrill of adventure aboard a sailing boat or yacht.
One of these places is in Spandau. To be exact, the southern part of the Havel River, which in some sections is so wide that it accommodates numerous boats and even a ferry. (Like the ferry in Wannsee — which you could read about in another spot—Ferry F10). Today, I want to tell you about a beautiful marina in Spandau Pichelsdorf. Here, where the Havel is expansive and winding with many curves and coves, you’ll find Scharfe Lanke.
In recent years, the city has been focused on renovating the park, making it accessible for both cyclists on the Havel Bike Trail and visitors on foot. There are several lovely benches with views of the water, some large enough for you to stretch out with a friend or partner.
