Anyone who wants to go beyond sushi will find that there is a variety of authentic Japanese food in Berlin. Maybe one of the most authentic and yet affordable places is Mamecha: A cute café with lunch and many dessert options. Their exquisite tea comes from the adjacent tea store in which the team of Mamecha also sells Japanese ceramics and stationery.
I personally cannot get enough of Mamecha because of their sweet treats: Mille Crepe Cake with seasonal fruit and Matcha Chiffon Cake are among my favorites. But I also tasted very fine creations with pumpkin or sweet potato. For everyone who craves savory - you will find Berlin's best Japanese curry (optionally, also vegetarian, which is even rarer) and amazing bento boxes during Mamecha's lunch hours (until 3 pm or sold out). You almost always have to queue and wait to catch a free table but you will certainly not regret it.
For an authentic taste of Japan, you can also order their cakes and teas online. Or simply catch Mamecha in their short opening hours to dive into the busy, warm atmosphere of this one-of-a-kind café.
