Situated between two woods, only a few kilometers from the city center, Senjak is a neighborhood with stunning old villas, residential buildings and people greeting each other. This is non-tourist and family-friendly area ideal for a quiet coffee and an afternoon walk, which is why I would advise to explore the surroundings before coming to Stovarište materijala for a coffee or a really tasty pizza.
I prefer to come here in the morning, when it is peaceful and breakfast is served. I usually opt for uštipci, doughnut-like sour dough pastry you can order either with cheese/ham (Grandpa's uštipci on the menu) or with jam/cream on the side (Grandma's version). The spacious interior is pleasant, filled with stylish furniture and industrial vintage items, but in the spring and summer months it is somewhat charming to sit on the street. It is especially cozy when everything turns golden at sunset and people are eating and drinking with their friends, family and pets.
When you are in this part of Belgrade, don't miss The Museum of African Art or the monumental BIGZ building (renovated and unfortunately off limits, but still impressive to see). On the other side of the street lies the Belgrade Fair, with its famous circular Hall 1, covered by the largest dome in the world constructed by prestressed concrete. Behind the Fair you'll find Brodić, where you can have a beer to finish this Senjak tour, and afterwards preferably return to the city on foot, following the Sava river.
