Falafel Tabbara might be the first shop that introduced falafel with its donut shape to Beirut, back when it opened in 1914 in Downtown Beirut at Bab Idriss area. Meaning before the birth of Great Lebanon in 1920 after WWI! Imagine?!
However this current shop in Ras Beirut, Snoubra has been there since 1979, when Abou Ziad, the current owner, decided to move from main street Hamra, where he started learning this profession from his father in the 1950s, to a new shop! Luckily, his son Ziad, who has his own university degree, is joining his father in his shop to learn this culinary heritage profession and elevate it with his skills.
So whenever you're passing by Hamra or Ras Beirut, you know where to grab your affordable falafel sandwich from!
