Only 3 kilometers from the center of Athens, every weekend a different kind of flea market operates. Scavengers present all items that they have collected. At Pazari Rakosyllekton you will find anything from paintings, books and vinyls to decorative items, furniture and electronic devices.
Of course there are no fixed prices and sellers are able to negotiate the price of the item you want to buy. In most cases, prices are very reasonable. The condition of items depend from seller to seller, so make sure you search well before you buy. This market has an oriental feeling and as you walk through the stands you'll hear various offers from sellers who are trying to convince you to buy. There are also some canteens where you can eat but you'd better not have great expectations about those.
It's difficult to leave this flea market without buying anything. Whenever I've visited something had to get into my bag. Try to get some of your souvenirs here. They will be definitely special.
You can use walk five minutes from Elaionas metro station.
