I always find myself in a dilemma when trying to choose a souvenir while visiting a new city or country. I need this object to be fun but usable, not just a postcard or little statue that will be soon forgotten. And, of course, a souvenir must represent the local culture and history. Ode to socks has been an answer to my prayers! They offer a wide range of socks made from 100% greek cotton and bags from 80% recycled cotton with hand-crafted silk screen printing.
Ode to socks has made good use of the local greek heroes such as the priest (pappa), the priest's wife, the sailor, and the fisherman, who are characteristic figures in every Greek's childhood in the village. There are also many retro motifs, such as the Gameboy or old Nokia mobile phones or the viewmaster. My personal favorite is the classic school experiment that we all were put through in the 90s, a.k.a. the greek yogurt plastic cup that we used for growing lentil stems donning the "Upcycling since forever" motto. There is also a smaller range of scrunchies and t-shirts and cotton or knitted sweaters (they sell out fast though!). You can also find more conventional socks but I am sure no one can resist the colourful fun ones.
