The internationally renowned graffiti festival Meeting of Styles regularly sets foot in Antwerp's Krugerstraat. The last edition dates back from September 2021 and the arty remains of the talented graffiti artists from all around the world are my go-to place when I need inspiration or a cool Instagram backdrop. It's a street where the walls are covered by dozens of colorful and mind-blowing designs.
Meeting of Styles is a nonprofit organization created by passionate artists and art aficionados. It wants to bring people together and serve as a platform for communication, exploring, developing skills and most of all, promoting urban street art. In the meantime, they have realized more than 200 events worldwide attracting more than 300,000 fans. Other inspiring cities are Bogotá, Medellín, London, LA, etc. And yes, Antwerp is on that very cool short list of cities.
The total available wall space to paint was more than 2,000 square meters. The area was reconstructed years ago and it was local graffiti heroes Aerosolkings that found this fantastic urban spot. This summer I used this location to make communion cards for my godchild. He looked amazing standing in front of those paintings created by more than 60 artists from all over the world. From the Krugerstraat I usually continue my walk to other streets like Minkelersstraat, Vlijtstraat and Uitbreidingsstraat for more street art.
