It’s the smell that hits you first as you walk in the door. Followed by the large selection of baked goods on display. With pastries stacked high across a long table, it’s an assault on the senses in all the right ways. From meringues the size of your head to lemon bars and chocolate brownies to every kind of pie imaginable (sweet and savory!), there is something for everyone. There are vegan, low fat and flourless treats available as well.
That said, given its namesake, at Purebread, it’s all about the bread. With over 20 varieties to choose from, you can go from classics like baguettes and ciabatta to more adventurous flavours like cheddar jalapeno and sour cherry chocolate. With such a large selection of goods, every day there is something a little different to try while keeping their customer favourites available.
A few of my favourites are their chocolate almond croissant and lemon bars, but you really can’t go wrong with anything at Purebread. Everything I’ve had is extremely satisfying. Purebread is great if you’re looking for a sweet treat or a light lunch. If you need a jolt of caffeine, they also serve Stumptown Coffee and locally sourced tea. Despite the higher price tag, each pastry is large and very filling. The storefront itself has some seating, but it is limited.
