Scotland isn't the first place you think of for vegetarian food. Things are getting better, but we still like our meat. David Bann is different, and it's not just for vegetarians, it's for anyone who enjoys good food.
Towards the bottom of St Mary's Street, David Bann has a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The dark walls give a classy and trendy vibe but still keep things a little casual which makes it a great spot to settle in for the evening. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, but you never feel like they are hovering.
It's the food that keeps me coming back though. My favourite is the aubergine, chickpea and cashew koftas. For afters the orange jelly with pineapple and rum sorbet is stunning. Although my favourite is the assiette of desserts to share, a perfect dish for those of us who have trouble deciding what to order. They also have an amazing wine list with too many great choices to mention!
As well as the whole menu being vegetarian David Bann's also offer options for vegans and those with gluten intolerance making it a perfect option for a group with different dietary requirements without feeling like anyone is missing out or compromising.
Even as a meat eater David Bann is my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh.
